At Quilt Beginning, we carry an extensive selection of batiks — and we think once you see them in person, you'll understand why quilters can't get enough of them.
Batiks are created through an ancient wax-resist dyeing technique rooted in the textile traditions of Indonesia, Africa, and Asia. Molten wax is applied to the fabric before dyeing, and as it cracks, dye seeps in to create those signature fine, web-like lines that make every piece truly one-of-a-kind. The result is color that's dyed deep into the fiber — not just printed on the surface — which means it stays vivid and beautiful wash after wash. Their tight weave also means less fraying, cleaner seams, and a crisp finish that's a joy to work with at every skill level.
